2020 - 2021 Emerging Choreographer | Them Yonder Hills
Will Brighton is a dancer, choreographer, lighting designer, and playwright from Ann Arbor, MI. A recent graduate of Western Michigan University (Summa Cum Laude) with a BFA in Dance and a BA in English: Creative Writing, Will has had the opportunity to perform works by Yin Yue, Aszure Barton, Jackie Nowicki, Joseph A. Hernandez, Christian Denice, BAIRA, Antony Tudor, George Balanchine, and Paul Taylor. Will was also a member of WMU’s touring company, Western Dance Project, for its 2017-2018 season and has performed in concerts alongside Taylor 2 and Peridance Contemporary Dance Company through WMU. In 2019, Will attended the American Dance Festival as a stagecraft apprentice, where he trained in Gaga and Countertechnique. Will’s self-choreographed solo, “Prune Juice: An Autobiography in a Place I’ve Never Been,” was selected to represent Western Michigan University at the 2020 ACDA East Central Conference. Recently, Will has also been commissioned as a playwright by Queer Theatre Kalamazoo and The Kalamazoo Short Play Reading Series for their virtual play festivals. In August, Will will be joining Big Muddy Dance Company in St Louis, Missouri as an apprentice for their 2020-21, tenth anniversary season.
