Classes and Intensives

The following classes and intensives are are offered for intermediate level students looking to further contemporary training in a professional environment. 

Groundwork

Our Groundwork program is designed for middle school students looking to advance their contemporary dance training. Students not yet eligible to audition for YDI performance projects are encouraged to participate int his class to prepare for the program. 

Sundays: 3:00pm - 4:30pm
This is a weekly class that runs from September through December. 

Kids One-Day Intensive

One of our most popular programs, Kids One-Day Intensive offers students the opportunity to take class from the current YDI company members and YDI alumni.

Ages: 10-12

Experience Required: Dancers age 10-12 should have at least two years of formal training.

Choreography

YDI Director and accomplished choreographer, Megan Scheppelman, is available to set work for solos or group dances for commercial or concert dance venues. 

Seminars

YDI offers seminars in college preparation, lifestyle and nutrition, and professional development. To bring YDI into your school or organization contact.

Private Lessons

YDI Director and JRD professionals are available for private lessons throughout the year.

Community Outreach

Youth Dance Day

Youth Dance Day is an event dedicated to providing artistic opportunities to the youth in the local community. Our mission is to make dance accessible to all kids, regardless of experience and/or socioeconomic status. Youth Dance Day teaches participants that dance can be a healthy outlet for self-expression. In a crafted atmosphere of acceptance and safety, Youth Dance Day staff encourages students to explore the dance space independently and with peers.

Improvisation and Creative Movement Workshops

This 60 minute workshop is a guided movement session for students. Participants will be guided in a series of movement exercises that are aimed at discovering new ways to be physically and socially engaged.

Nursing Home Performances​
